Lantern operating SNCF - Booty

Here is a rare lamp produced by Booty in the 50s, early 60's. It is apparently a last attempt loot to upgrade lanterns operating SNCF (symbol stamped on the top of the lamp). If, however, was referenced by the Service of Supply, it would have being very little controlled by different institution operating in direct competition with the electric lamp model 1961.

A big thank you to Dom for the extensive information he gave me.

2 variants of the lamp LUXTYLENE

I present here two variants of the carbide lamp produced by the firm LUXTYLENE in the region of Béziers.

- The first version on the right is one I've presented here: http://lampeacarbure.blogspot.com/2008/12/lampe-carbure-de-lodeve.html , it is a lamp powered by a system of disposal of the fuel tank in the water tank. (To see the user guide, follow the link)

- The second version is left of a bill much more simple since exactly the same model except that instead of having a dip, we have a point'eau.

On the photograph of the middle, you'll notice the difference.

Lamp sewerman KP - ARRAS

Another KP! I refer you to the article dedicated to him at:
http://lampeacarbure.blogspot.com/search/label/Lampes% 20of% 20mineur

This model allows us to make 2 comments, however essential:
- The presence of an aluminum reflector would be in all series of lamps made for the City of Paris (I bought this lamp to a son 'sewer workers).
- Above the lamp KP was built with two different heights of glass: 5cm (see link) and 7.5 cm (this lamp one)

Restoring a miner's lamp

Since we collect the lamps (not carbide or elsewhere), we have had the opportunity to test a large number of methods to restore everything that was being ...

Hydrochloric Acid Electrolysis ... ... Abrasion ... Etc!

Each method has advantages but also a very large number of defects. In all cases, once the object is stripped, the biggest problem is how we will protect it: grease, Rustol, galvanizing, coating ...

galvanizing does not lend itself to all the lights (and is very complex to implement), and varnish the Rustol distort the object (and perhaps irreversibly), fat (which I preferred to here) has the merit of stabilize the metal, but then can not handle the lamp without putting them full of fingers!

few days ago, after dozens of methods hated, I finally get their hands on a product that I almost want to call a miracle drug: Crème Polish black "

But what s 'does it work exactly?

This product is a cream made of black carbon black, graphite and wax that are used for maintenance of stoves, fireplaces, chimneys etc. plate. ... It is applied with a rag or brush, then rubbed with a soft cloth! The big advantage of this product is that it creates a patina that protects the iron and steel from rust without damaging the lamp (or make it sticky) while giving the object a characteristic color. ...

Demonstration

I bought a lamp rave quite original because it has a hook-like gaffe.

Material used: (I am not a shareholder of Castorama, just that it is 100m from my home and it remains accessible to all budgets)

- 1 sheet of emery cloth. Grained 0 (You can find more at Norauto end, it is emery cloth for bodywork. Problem: much more expensive) (3.25 €)

- 1 box of steel wool No. 000. (6 € 94)

- The famous product, Cream Polish (9 € 50: The price may seem excessive, but with a pot, you're a hundred lamps ...)

After an hour of work, here is the result !

Before / After

And here is a warning light, including a right Motie was treated with cream polish and the other half with a traditional fat. The color difference is clear.

What Is The Best Complete 10 Hp Go Kart

The family of lamps mine Hubert Joris

Model A ; ; ; ; Model B

After a few months, I am now quite pleased to present the two lamps at Hubert Joris mine.
At first glance, these two models are quite the same yet it is not!
Up to 28cm 29cm to A and B. However, the height of the water reserve is not at all the same: for the first 8.5 cm, 10.5 cm for the second. Similarly, the volume of the fuel tank is substantially lower for the model B.
If, as I already stated subsequently, the finishes are Laitin for model B, they are copper for model A and of lower quality (and not a single needle beautiful deck)
There are two lamps on a closure eccentric. B on the lamp, a ring and a stop enable locking of lamp position "Ready" what is not found on the Model A. Mishandling of the latter thus leads to its opening.
Finally, the sytem blocking glass is more complex because the model system of B allows the latch lock. Systems that are not found on the Model A.

So it's very clear, the model A is much less functional than the finished model B. A lamp may belong to an older series replaced by a more successful model. However, it remains difficult to determine. The future will tell ... can be

Note that a model in excellent condition in Series B (If I can allow me to call it) is visible in the museum of the mine Grand'Combe (region of Alès)

Thanks to Mr. Karp Heupel (Germany) and Mr Bernard S. .... (Belgium) for their brand recognition of the lamp.

carbide lamp carbide mine Hubert Joris

Some may be lucky ... I dunno ... But I had the opportunity to acquire a second mine lamp brand Hubert Joris!

This model is awaiting restoration as you can see in the picture.

By cons, contrary to what I thought, it is totally different from his brother.

Indeed, the finish is not the same quality. No part is brass. The needle does not form a peak. The system of fixing the glass is not the same. But more importantly, this variation is smaller!

Lamp Justrite Ponzevera: generator acetylene to hospital

Lamp Ponzevera brand manufactured specifically for the hospital. The trademark logo represented a caduceus which wraps a snake.

As noted by Dr. Jean Belin in his book "Fighting for Life: The Hotel-Dieu in Clermont-Ferrand, operating rooms are equipped with acetylene generators during the Second World War to take advantage of light very quickly in case of power failure, so very often. This type of device could also be used in ambulances and field hospitals. Note the presence of a handle and a hook for hanging

The advantage of acetylene generators is that they operate with an immersion system. Carbide is contained in a basket that just dive into the water immediately to generate acetylene.

Unfortunately, I do not own the lighthouse had to be sold with the lamp. Indeed, for a specialized use as a beacon of Special necessarily be made for the occasion. It remains only to find it ...
